About Thompson RV
Thompson RV, Inc. is a family owned and operated RV dealer located in Pendleton, Oregon. We first opened our doors in 1953 as a Nash Rambler dealership in downtown Pendleton. In the 60's Bob and his father Sid took on Datsun, Aloha, Aristocrat and Kit Trailers, along with Round-Up and Security truck campers.
They also sold the locally manufactured Prowler travel trailers.
After Sid suffered some health problems in the early 70's, the dealership was sold. In 1973, Bob Thompson purchased the pre-owned side of the car business and ventured out on his own. It wasn't too long after, he met Carolyn and they grew the business into a thriving used car dealership. In 1977 the couple decided to take on Nomad brand travel trailers. Camping was a natural fit for both, especially Bob since he spent most weekends as a child camping with his parents and siblings.
In 1978, Bob and Carolyn once again aquired the locally built Prowler travel trailers. People drove from all over to come buy a quality, locally built Prowler from a husband and wife team.
The business continued to grow and the couple had to make multiple moves to accomodate their growing business. 1998 was a big year for Thompson RV. We moved to our current location and both kids were old enough to start working and helping out with day-to-day tasks. The new building was a vacant grocery store. And with a lot of hard work and vision, the store became a 16,000 square foot showroom with 2,000 square foot parts department.
The showroom has allowed Thompson RV to have up to 12 units inside at all times. So no matter how hot or cold it is outside, you can always come in and take a look around in the climate controlled showroom. Prices are posted in all of our vehicles, new and used, and we encourage you to "just look". Since we are all family, we do not make sales commission and we don't have a "sales manager". None of us like buying a car, or anything for that matter, from a slick salesman who doesn't have our best interests in mind. We believe in helping you find the rv that truly fits your lifestyle and we are more than happy to let you wander the lot. Our main goal is to help provide you with information and our own personal experience to help you find the trailer that best suits your needs. We are all very hands-on and all enjoy camping, so we can answer any questions you may have. We pride oursleves in our service and have a wonderful service shop where you are not just a number. When you purchase a trailer from us, you will deal directly with us the next time you come in for service. This personal one-on-one service is what keeps our customers coming back as well as drawing new customers from all over the U.S.! One of the many reasons why we were voted "One of the top 50 dealers in the U.S."
Over the years, the kids, Burton and Corrin, have really helped the business grow. Corrin does all of the internet sales and website management, along with sales and Burt does all of the customer walk throughs, sales and helps run the service department. Carolyn is still here 6 days a week doing everything, where Bob has decided to semi-retire and only come in a few days a week. We also have some amazing employees that have been with us for years including Justin Harvey and his two daughters, as well as Bob's nephew James.
Looking for RV parts and accessories? You will be happy to know that almost 2,000 square feet of our showroom is devoted to our parts. We welcome you to come on in and look around. Not only do we stock accessories, we also have a lot of older, hard to find repair parts. If you can't make it in, shop our online parts catalog or give us a call.
